Founder and President Derrick O. Martin is a seasoned, results-oriented professional with vast experience in economic and workforce development, strategic planning, and marketing. Respected nationally for tackling complex issues in public, private and nonprofit sectors, Martin helps organizations develop strategies to drive revenue, and optimize business operations. His techniques enable already successful companies to increase deliverables and remain on mission.
Martin is the Managing Partner of Sugchairo, Moi & Martin, a multi-faceted boutique Consulting Firm based in New Orleans, LA. The Firm provides a variety of services, including Economic Advisory, Workforce Development, Risk Management & Mitigation strategies, as well as assisting clients with Governmental Affairs.
Formerly the Executive Director for the Algiers Economic Development Foundation (AEDF), he worked to ensure long-term economic vitality for the Westbank, New Orleans. In this role, Martin redirected the focus of AEDF toward developing strategies for Business Retention, Expansion, and Corporate Attraction.
Prior to joining AEDF, Martin served as the Vice President of Business Retention & Expansion at the New Orleans Business Alliance (NOLABA). Most notably, he worked along-side the President & CEO to develop the first comprehensive 5-year economic development strategy for the City of New Orleans.
In the state of Arizona, Martin assisted over 400k businesses with business development strategies. In addition to developing specialized training programs, he helped create talent pipelines, and position businesses for sustainability. Martin’s expertise has added value to prominent companies such as General Motors, Verizon, Ford Motor Company.
Martin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Jackson State University along with certificates in Project Management from George Washington University and Six Sigma Studies from Kettering University, formerly General Motors Institute.
Martin enjoys spending time with his children, cycling, and advising both collegiate and professional athletes on life after sports.
